ServSafe Food Handler

Format: 40 true/false and multiple-choice questions, open-book, no time limit

ServSafe Food Protection Manager

The most widely required food safety certification

Format: 90 multiple-choice questions, proctored, 2-hour time limit

Which Certification Should You Get?

If you're in a management or supervisory role, get the ServSafe Food Protection Managercertification. It's the gold standard in the industry and is required by most states for at least one person per food establishment. If you're a line-level employee, the Food Handler certification may be sufficient.
